RPT-25 User Features:
Joystick Auto Calibration:
Both of our RPT units also feature an “auto calibrate” feature that will determine the “center” spot on the joystick each time the unit is powered up and calculate the deadband automatically. Once you power the unit on you must wait 3 full seconds for the unit to perform this “auto calibration” then they are ready to use. This eliminates “motor drift” and it performs this step every time you turn the unit on. You will not have to open or adjust anything inside our units like our competitors.
Pan and Tilt Directional Switches:
Both of our RPT units have pan and tilt “direction” switches for simple reversing of the camera movement. It you opt to under sling the camera from the head now your pan/tilt joystick control would be backwards. Solution, simply flip the direction switch and you are ready to shoot. You can configure the direction any way you like to suit your location relative to the camera whether it’s on top or under slung.
Linear and Logarithmic Control:
Both of our RPT units come standard with linear joystick control which is pressure sensitive for speed control. You can also use the speed control on either the pan or the tilt to soften the control around the center of the joystick for slower more precise motion. But if you prefer both linear and logarithmic controls we can supply you with an upgraded version of the RPT-25 that has an additional switch on the unit that the user can select linear or logarithmic joystick control. Please contact your sales rep for further information.
-
Linear Control: Each degree of joystick movement will reflect an equal amount of motor speed.
-
Logarithmic Control: Each degree of joystick movement will reflect a small amount of motor speed in the first half of the joystick and increase in the second half of the joystick movement so the motor is at 100% when you reach the maximum deflection on the joystick. This softens the control around the center of the joystick yet allows 100% full speed when needed for those quick camera moves.
Speed Control:
The RPT-25 has two speed limit knobs that allow you to limit the speed of the pan or tilt individually. Most of our competitors only offer one limit control for both pan and tilt simultaneously. This way you can control the maximum speed two ways and not worry about crossover from the other channel, one with the joystick and one with the speed control. You can vary the speed from 100% down to 35% of the motor RPM to suit your needs. You have full speed range and you will get smooth speed control without any erratic behavior at slower speeds, a problem common with many other systems.
High Quality Cables:
Both of our RPT units come standard with our custom made, high quality, 25 foot, 5 pin XRL extension cable to reach the end of most jibs. If you need more length you can order additional 25 foot extensions and simply plug them together. We have reached lengths of 150 feet with no loss of power or torque.
Turntable Feature:
The RPT-25 unit features a turntable mode for showcasing merchandise on a revolving platform for great product shots. You simply flip down the turntable mode switch on the right side of the RPT-25 and now you can control the pan function “hands free” with the speed control knob on the side of the unit. Simply turn it either way for clockwise or counter-clockwise “hands free” rotation. The more you turn it the faster the platform will spin. Simply return the speed control knob to the center detent to stop the platform motion.
12 Volt Power:
Both of our RPT units come standard with a 12 volt DC regulated power supply that connects with a standard 4 pin XLR connector. You can also power the unit with a standard battery belt in the field if needed using the same XLR connector from the belt. (Please check the XLR pin out from the belt prior to using with the RPT unit. We use the standard pin configuration for four pin XLR power)
Synchronous regenerative drive:
If you are in the field away from AC power and you power the RPT-25 with a 12 volt battery or battery belt the unit will return power to the battery any time a deceleration or motor reversal is commanded. This can lead to dramatic improvements in run time for systems that run on battery power. We know of no other competitor offering this feature.
